Why a writing diary?

When people find out I’m a writer, one of the (first) questions I’m asked is: when will the book be published? Most non-writers seem to think that writing involves typing words that will immediately end up being the polished prose we read in published works. I wish! It may be the case for some great writers, but it’s certainly not the case for me and all the writers I know.

I’m about to begin plotting a new book. At the same time, I’m finalising the edits on the third book of a trilogy. I reckon this is a good time to begin my writing diary and I hope the ups and downs which will be inevitable will comfort or help other people who have embarked on a similar journey.
